PRESIDENT - Eric Adams
Secretary – Nori Cannell Zavaleta
Eric Adams has been a board member with TUHSEF since February 2013 and serves as the President. His community service has also included Director of Communications with the TIE Foundation, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Sun Sounds of Arizona as well as many other activities within the community. He is a graduate of Corona Del Sol High School and Southwestern University. Eric is the General Manager at AG Signs powered by AlphaGraphics. In his spare time, he enjoys time with his son as well as kicking around the soccer ball in a men's soccer league.
Roland Carranza joined the Board in 2022. As the District’s Assistant Superintendent for Business Service, his position serves as the member nominated by the District’s Governing Board, as stipulated in the Foundation by-laws. He is currently serving as a board member and scholarship and grant committee member for the Foundation. Roland has worked for Tempe Union High School District for seventeen years; Buckeye Union High School District for one year; Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District for five years; and Tucson Unified School District for 5 years. Roland holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and attending fine arts festivals. Roland has one son and two daughters who are McClintock High School graduates.
Ron Denne Jr. is currently the Coordinator of Social Emotional Wellness at Tempe Union High School District. He was the school psychologist at Mountain Pointe from 2006-2010 and again from 2012-2021. He served as Assistant Director of Exceptional Student Services in the Kyrene School District from 2010-2012. Ron is a graduate of Corona del Sol. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in Psychology, and both his master’s degree in counseling and Educational Specialist degree from San Diego State University. Ron joined the Board in 2021.
Sharon Doyle, a community advocate for the City's youth, has lived in Tempe for over forty years and retired from the Tempe Union High School District as a Speech and Language Pathologist. She currently is or has been a member of the Tempe Community Council, Commitment to Schools in Tempe and Kyrene, Tempe Impacts Education Foundation, TAPP (Teen Adolescent Pregnancy Parenting) Advisory Board, Tempe Union High Schools Education Foundation, Az. Education Association Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Tempe, Division 10 Southwest District Governor's Board, Compadre Key Club advisor, Tempe Elementary Pre-School Advisory Board, Tempe Parks, Recreation Golf and Buttes Cemetery Advisory Board and Assistance League of the East Valley.
Don Fletcher has been a board member of TUHSEF since 2019. He has been involved with Tempe Union High School District, serving on the Mental Health and Wellness Committee, as well as the Finance Committee. He has served as the Chairman of the Salt River District for Boy Scouts of America, Chairman of the Phoenix Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, Conference Co-Chair of the International Law Conference for the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, and currently coordinates legal services for low-income families. He is a member of the International Conference of Shopping Centers and teaches continuing education programs through this organization. He is a member of the Arizona Education Association and has assisted in lobbying efforts at the Arizona Legislature. He is currently a member of the Kiwanis Club of Tempe and serves on the 4th of July Committee. Don has taught college level courses and has been involved with education related matters for over 20 years. He currently is a partner in a Tempe law firm and represents various real estate and business interests. He is married to Christine Fletcher, a lifetime teacher. They have four adult children. In his spare time, Don enjoys hiking, skiing, and exploring AZ.
Craig Keller joined the Board in the fall of 2020. Craig has litigated cases in the areas of Litigation and Appeals, Business/Corporate Law, Wills/Trust/Estate Planning and Alternative Dispute Resolutions for 38 years. He has been very active in community services such as Tempe Sister Cities, Tempe Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking and Drug Use, Wickenburg Town Manager Selection, and the Wickenburg Rotary Club. Craig Attended the University of Arizona for his undergraduate and graduate degrees and attended Harvard Law School, Program for Instruction for Lawyers. Craig is married to Mary.
Sean McDonald has been a member of the TUHSEF board since 2019. Sean is currently the Assistant Superintendent of District Operations, Safety, and Student Support at Tempe Union High School District. This is his 26th year with the district. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in Special Education, his master’s from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership, and will be completing his doctorate in Educational Leadership. Sean enjoys cooking, the outdoors, and time with his wife, Gina, and his four children.
Diane Meulemans has been a member of Tempe Union High School Education Foundation since 2000. Diane is a Certified Public Accountant and has recently retired from the Tempe Union High School District after thirty-three years of service. She enjoys reading, doing hobbies, and spending time with her husband and two children camping and boating.
Katie Phalen joined TUHSEF as a board member in July of 2023. Her career as an educator includes teaching Science classes in the Tempe Union HS District from July 2009 to May 2022. Katie taught Honors Chemistry, Chemistry, and was Program Coordinator for the International Baccalaureate Program at Tempe HS. She served as Advisor to the Tempe HS Key Club and is currently a member of the Kiwanis Club of Tempe. She has received several awards, among them the Tempe Diablos Excellence in Education Leadership Award.
Deb Sion joined TUHSEF as a board member in October of 2016 and has served as Treasurer for the past 5 years. Her previous employment includes management positions in a Fortune 500 transportation company, business manager of a charter school, and public accounting experience. Currently retired, she enjoys volunteering and spending time with her husband and two sons who are both graduates of Corona Del Sol High School and Arizona State University.
Nori Cannell Zavaleta taught at Tempe High School and Marcos de Niza, and then served as Director of Guidance and Career and Technical Education until retirement in 2016. She holds master’s Degrees in Secondary Education and Administration. She serves as President of Tempe Dollars for Scholars. Nori has two daughters, Paige Wyer, N.P., and Megan Cannell, Pharm.D., and is married to retired Desert Vista Engineering Teacher Dan Zavaleta. She enjoys reading, hobbies, and spending time with friends and family. She joined the Board in 2021.
