Meet The Team

Our Volunteers

The Tempe Union High Schools Education Foundation (TUHSEF), in Tempe, Arizona is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1993. We proudly provide assistance for outstanding and innovative projects, as well as many distinctive programs that help enhance educational experience for students in the Tempe Union High School District (TUHSD).

 

 

PRESIDENT - Eric Adams

Eric Adams is a graduate of Corona del Sol class of 91.  His family owns 3 Alphagraphics in Tempe, Mesa and Phoenix.  He has been a member of this board for over 10 years and has served as President two times.  He is the Chairman of the Golf committee and uses his business contacts to bring the community and education together.

 

Vice President - Don Fletcher

Don Fletcher is a lawyer who has a law practice in Tempe, Arizona.  He worked for the U.S. Justice Department as a trial attorney and prosecutor for eight years and has been in private law practice since 1996.  He was an adjunct college professor teaching paralegal studies for three years. In 2015, Don received the Top Lawyer Award.  For some 20 years, Don served in many positions with Boy Scouts, including the administration position of District Chairman for three years.  He has taught merit badge classes to over 2,000 young men.  Don was involved with the City of Phoenix Sister City program serving on their program committee for three years.  Recently, Don has been involved with the Kiwanis Club of Tempe, serving on their 4th of July Celebration Committee and finance committee.  He is married to Christine Fletcher, a lifetime teacher, and they have four adult children with four beautiful grandchildren.

 

Treasurer - Deb Sion

Deb Sion joined TUHSEF as a board member in October of 2016 and has served as Treasurer for the past 5 years. Her previous employment includes management positions in a Fortune 500 transportation company, business manager of a charter school, and public accounting experience. Currently retired, she enjoys volunteering and spending time with her husband and two sons who are both graduates of Corona Del Sol High School and Arizona State University.

 

Secretary – Patty Vogel

Dr. Patty Vogel is a retired member of the TUHSD family.  Having been a teacher, department chair and Director of Student Services, she is dedicated to supporting the students of the Tempe Union High School District. She is married to Ron Davini.

 

Past President – Diane Meulemans

Diane Meulemans has been a member of Tempe Union High School Education Foundation since 2000.  Diane is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked for Tempe Union High School District for 32 years. Her current position is Assistant Superintendent for Business Services.

 

Member – Sharon Doyle

Sharon Doyle a community advocate for the City's youth, has lived in Tempe for over forty years and retired from the Tempe Union High School District as a Speech and Language Pathologist. She currently is or has been a member of the Tempe Community Council, Commitment to Schools in Tempe and Kyrene, Tempe Impacts Education Foundation, TAPP (Teen Adolescent Pregnancy Parenting) Advisory Board, Tempe Union High Schools Education Foundation, Az. Education Association Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Tempe, Division 10 Southwest District Governor's Board, Compadre Key Club advisor, Tempe Elementary Pre-School Advisory Board, Tempe Parks, Recreation Golf and Buttes Cemetery Advisory Board and Assistance League of the East Valley.

 

Member – Craig Keller

Craig Keller joined the Board in the fall of 2020. Craig has litigated cases in the areas of Litigation and Appeals, Business/Corporate Law, Wills/Trust/Estate Planning and Alternative Dispute Resolutions for 37 years. He has been very active in community services such as Tempe Sister Cities, Tempe Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking and Drug Use, Wickenburg Town Manager Selection, and the Wickenburg Rotary Club. Craig Attended the University of Arizona for his undergraduate and graduate degrees and attended Harvard Law School, Program for Instruction for Lawyers.

 

Member – Sean McDonald

Sean McDonald has been a member of the TUHSEF board since 2019. Sean is currently the Assistant Superintendent of District Operations, Safety, and Student Support at Tempe Union High School District. This is his 26th year with the district. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in Special Education, his master’s from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership, and will be completing his doctorate in Educational Leadership shortly. Sean enjoys cooking, the outdoors, and time with his wife, Gina and his four children.

 

Member – Sandy Lowe

Sandy Lowe is a long-long Tempe Union community member who has been involved with public education and Tempe Union for the last 20 years.  She has served on a number of school-site as well as District stakeholder committees, as well being a past Governing Board Member. Some of her past and current Foundation responsibilities have included overseeing the Student Art Scholarships offered as part of our Hope Spring Event, being secretary and involvement with planning of our Fundraisers.

 

Member – Ron Denne Jr.

Ron Denne Jr. is a newer member of TUHSEF board. He is currently the Coordinator of Social Emotional Wellness at Tempe Union High School District. He was the school psychologist at Mountain Pointe from 2006-2010 and 2012-2021. Ron is a graduate of Corona del Sol High School.

 

Member – Nori Cannell Zavaleta

Nori Cannell Zavaleta taught at Tempe High School and Marcos de Niza, and then served as Director of Guidance and Career and Technical Education until retirement in 2016.  She has two daughters, Paige Wyer, N.P., and Megan Cannell, Pharm.D, and is married to retired Desert Vista Engineering Teacher Dan Zavaleta.
